Heray Wild Mountain Cumin - Afghanistan

$9.95

We met up with Heray Spice at the NYC Fancy Food Show by chance (and luck!) because they were the only exhibitors from Afghanistan. They are Afghan immigrants who worked with the US Army and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) inside Afghanistan from 2008 to 2014. Heray Spice has a vision for community uplifting. They are empowering  a co-op of 28 family farmers who employ sustainable agricultural practices by promoting fair trade practices and sustainable agriculture. Additionally, they are committed to EMPOWERING WOMEN and SUPPORTING EDUCATION in Afghanistan through the Heray Education Fund.

This is Afghani black wild mountain cumin only grows wild on the pristine mountains of Hind Kush Badakhshan, Afghanistan.

This special cumin is harvested by local foragers. The rocky stone and soil of Badakhshan helps nurture an ancient varietal of cumin with a warm and strong flavor and unforgettable aroma. No pesticides or chemical used in its cultivation and harvesting.

This wild mountain black cumin is a rich, aromatic mix of savory, sweet and warm flavors. The seeds are tiny and their subtle texture delivers unparalleled flavor to food with just a few sprinkles.

Try it sprinkled on hummus with a drizzle of Lemon Flavored Olive Oil. Or add that heavenly aroma to your salads, fish, and curries. 2 oz ( 55 gm)
