The pistachios grown in Bronte in the foothills of Mount Etna in eastern Sicily are definitely different. Compared with California pistachios, they are smaller, more deeply green, with skins beautifully brushed in royal purple, and they have a more richly concentrated flavor. Shed from their purple skins, the vibrant green pistachios are blended to a cream, ready to be used to elevate a breakfast or brunch onto toast, waffles or a good grainy oatmeal. This spread is also ideals as a filling for cakes, cookies or as a nut butter spread on a tart.  It is decadently sweet, smooth, and enticing!
